The Alliance of Evil

The Alliance of Evil- a sarcastic view

This past week the United States of America joined the Alliance of Evil. The United States, with support of its brother members; Cameroon, China, Cuba, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Senegal, Sudan, and Zimbabwe, reached out with their tentacles of hate in the United Nations.

Gay rights “Iranian Style”. One of many approved forms of treatment of gays by the Alliance of Evil.

In an unusual and almost unprecedented move the Alliance of Evil, led by Iran, that bastion of liberty, voted to deny consultative status to the International Lesbian and Gay Association, and Landsforeningen for Bosser og Lesbiske, a Danish group. The vote was extreme as it did not allow for the groups to speak before the Committee.

In an effort to reach out to those nations disaffected by policies carried out by the United States, the US team at the United Nations boldly stood in solidarity, as they voted against a common enemy, gays and lesbians. It’s comforting to know that nations as varied as these can find common goals to work towards.

Although the current administration of the United States has done its best to reverse the gains made in equal rights for gay and lesbian persons, they still have a way to go in relation to their Alliance of Evil counterparts.

The Iranians have found a straight forward approach to gay and lesbian rights. The punishment for homosexuality is stoning to death, or hanging. In an example of openness Iran publicly showed its observance of "gay rights" late last year.

These teenagers (Mahmoud, 15 and Ayaz, 17) were held in prison for 14 months and severely beaten with 228 lashes. Their lives ended in a public hanging.

The other members of the Alliance of Evil have “gay and lesbian rights” which closely resemble Iran’s conscientious system. m In Cameroon, homosexuality is punishable with a penalty of 6 months to 5 years imprisonment and a fine of up to CFA 200.000. Senegal’s law states “an improper or unnatural act with a person of the same sex will be punished by imprisonment of between one and five years and by a fine of 100,000 to 1,500,000 francs.” Sudan closely resembles Iran in its views. Homosexual activity is illegal, punishable by 100 lashes or death. In Mozambique homosexual activity is illegal, punishable with a penalty of up to 3 years imprisonment in a "re-education institution" where hard labour is used to alter the prisoners "aberrant behaviour".
And finally, the United States partner in the “war on terror”, Pakistan. Pakistan’s look at gay rights fits in well with the views of the Alliance of Evil. Its law states homosexual activity is illegal, punishable with life in prison, and corporal punishment of 100 lashes, while Islamic law, which also can be enforced legally, calls for up to 100 lashes or death by stoning
The current administration of the United States, in joining this show of international cooperation, has given a clear sign that it finds the idea of gay rights abhorrent. One must wonder if our current leaders and their supporters long to create laws similar to those of the other member of the Alliance of Evil.
